Premier Soccer League title race still unpredictable
Kaizer Chiefs failed to collect three points against Stellenbosch FC as they played a 1-1 draw on Sunday.
Chiefs is currently leading on the 2019/20 log table. Winning against Stellenbosch would increase their chances of obtaining the league crown.
The draw confirmed their 53 points lead followed by Mamelodi Sundowns (Brazilians) with 47 points.
However, considering both team’s recent performance and results, the championship is still doubtful. There is still a big match coming between them, but Brazilians will play against Golden Arrows before Chiefs.
Their game will kick off at 6pm on Thursday evening at Orlando Stadium. Both Sundowns and Chiefs understand the important of full points at this stage of the league race.
On the post-match interview against Cape Town City, Brazilian’s coach Pitso Mosimane admitted that his team’s performance is unimpressive compared to before lockdown.
The German mentor also Chiefs coach, Ernst Middendorp also emphasised the effects of lockdown on their team’s fitness levels. Middendorp is concerned about ending a five year trophy drought for the Chiefs although they are under pressure.
The league has reached its critical stage where teams fight to win the title, to enter on the top eight and others to avoid relegation.
