Mpumalanga Black Aces have sealed a deal with former Orlando Pirates player, Clifford Ngobeni.
The club made the deal after they joined the Premier Soccer League following the ruling of the Arbitrator on Wednesday night in the matter involving Thanda Royal Zulu and Chippa United. This is according to the PSL website.
Ngobeni (26) who has a single cap for Bafana Bafana, signed a new one-year contract with Aces on Sunday, the club said.
He began his career as a teenager with Ajax Cape Town, he then moved to Pirates in 2010. The club had loaned him to Kwa-Zulu Natal based club, Lamontville Golden Arrows after 18 months and he had to spend the rest of the season 2011-12 with Arrows.
Ngobeni attempted to get money out of previous employers Arrows and Pirates, with whom he had declared a dispute over the terms of his last contract.
PSL CEO, Brand de Villiers congratulated Aces for their confirmed promotion to the league.
According to PSL website, de Villiers said, “I want to congratulate Mpumalanga Black Aces for being promoted back to the Premier Division following their impressive season in the National First Division.”
“Since they were relegated, Mpumalanga has not had a team playing top flight football. This is another opportunity for the League to reach out to that community again.”
Amazayoni got promoted along with Polokwane City last season. Although these clubs have been promoted from NFD, they are not playing in the league for the first time.
Aces were relegated during the 2010/11 season. City, previously known as Bay United, also had a short stint in the Absa Premiership during the 2008/09 season.
De Villiers also said that these clubs will receive assistance from the PSL. “The PSL will assist the teams in the next few days and weeks as they find their feet in the premier division.”
Aces will lock horns with Kaizer Chiefs in the opening match of the 2013/14 season at Mbombela Stadium on Friday.
