SRI LANKA BEAT PROTEAS IN FINAL T20

The Proteas lost by 6 wickets against Sri Lanka in the 3rd and last T20 match on Tuesday at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium making the final series score 2-1.
The visitors won the toss and opted to bat first. Proteas’ Captain Faf du Plessis scored an outstanding 85 runs off 65 balls. The skipper smashed 10 fours and 3 sixes during his time on the crease.
Left-handed batsman, JP Duminy, also batted impressively. Duminy scored 51 runs from just 34 balls, consisting of 3 fours and 2 sixes. The 3rd wicket partnership between du Plessis and Duminy produced 112 runs. South Africa ended their innings with a score of 163/3.
The pressure was on for Sri Lanka to chase the target of 164 set by the visitors. The star for the Sri Lanka batting side was once again Tillakaratne Dilshan. He scored an amazing score of 74 runs of 51 balls. Dilshan scored 2 sixes and 11 boundaries. Mahela Jayawardene scored a competent score of 33 runs from 16 balls.
Thisara Perera smashed 25 runs from just 11 balls, consisting of 3 fours and a six. Sri Lanka’s resilient batting paid off when they chased down the target set by the Proteas with 11 balls to spare.
In a statement released by Cricket South Africa, Du Plessis said that he was disappointed with the way his team played in the match. “Obviously we are disappointed with tonight. I thought we were not as good in our execution as in the previous games”.
He further went on to say that he is still happy they won the series, regardless of losing this match. “All in all really, really happy to come and beat the best team in their own country.”
Sri Lanka won the ODI series 4-1 and the Proteas won the T20 series 2-1.
