SUPER SATURDAY AT GREYVILE

Wild One reigns victorius in the R1.25 million Gold Cup for trainer Mike de Kock and jockey Anthony Delpech at Greyville Racecourse.
On Saturday, arguably the best horses in the country graced the Greyville turf for the last time this season as ‘The Other Big July Race Day’ took place.
Thousands of people gathered at the Greyville racecourse to witness top class feature racing.
Headlining the day was the Grade 1 eLAN Property Group Gold Cup and the Grade 1 Champions Cup.
Wild One started favourite and won by just over a length from Balance Sheet who was back in second. Delpech told Tellytrack presenter Deez Daynand that all credit must go to the trainer, Mike De kock as he prepared the horse exceptionally well for this race.
The next big race was the Grade 1 Champions Cup and this saw Futura who was also a favourite to win from Ice Machine who was back in second. Futura won for trainer Justin Snaith and jockey Bearnard Faydherbe.
Gerard Joseph who is an avid punter said that it is not easy to watch first class racing gracing his hometown for the last time.
“I will miss seeing these celebrity horses in my back yard on a weekly basis,” said Joseph.
Wassim Yunus, one of the tipsters, was proud to praise the annual racing season the world has ever seen as he says.
“There is no other season in racing like the KwaZulu-Natal Champions season. I rate it as one of the best in the world,” said Yunus.
The day ended up being a favourable day for punters as 8 out of 12 favourites won. Adeshan Moonswamy, one of the many lucky punters on the day, admitted that he never had a better day in racing in his life like this one.
The next season to look forward to for racing lovers is the Highveld season which starts at the end of August.
