SuperSport dominates over Orlando Pirates
SuperSport United earned an impressive 3-0 victory over Orlando Pirates at Mbombela Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The Supersport striker Bradley Grobbler scored the first goal for the 2019/20 season in the 35th minute, they continued dominating when they scared a second goal in the second half, with Zambian Ghampani Lungu sealing the game for United in the 69th minute.
The visitors Orlando Pirates created their first chance in the first two minutes, Gabadinho Mhango recorded the first shot on target match was saved by Ronwen Williams. Pirates tried to apply pressure to Supersport and created another chance in 25th minutes but Fortune Makaringe failed to find the back of the net.
SuperSport high pressing game proved to be useful as Pirates defense failed to cope under pressure and made errors that lead to the goal.
Supersport coach Kaitano Temba said,” we were brilliant today, we planned very well in terms of pressing they wanted to build up from the back so we wanted to disrupt them and make sure they don’t get to front players easily and we managed to do that throughout 90minutes.”
Bucs were coming back from the loss in CAF Champions League to Zambian side Green Eagles on Saturday. But Both teams have played two PSL games with Matsatsantsa losing to Sundowns in the opening match and Pirates winning to Celtics
Orlando Pirates head coach Milutin Sredojevic apologised to the Buccaneers fans and took full responsibility for the manner in which they lost to SuperSport United.
“We owe our supporters apology after losing this way in this fashion, I like to take it on myself the responsibility of this loss,” he said
