Tshabalala joins Amazulu
Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Siphiwe Tshabalala (36) has signed with Amazulu ahead of a inaugural DSTV Premiership campaign.
Tshabalala was unveiled as a new signing for Amazulu on Monday afternoon as the Durban-based outfit confirmed 10 additional signings to the squad.
The former Chiefs star said he had talks with the Amazulu President, Sandile Zungu before he signed for the club.
“I would like to thank the president Sandile Zungu, he is the person I respect so much. I had a meeting with him and he told me about the plans and the vision for Usuthu and that’s why I came here,” Tshabalala told the media.
He went on to say he wants to start a new chapter and believes that his arrival will have an impact on the club both on and off the pitch.
Sandile Zungu who recently took over the club has looked to shake-up things within the club and challenge for silverware. According to Kickoff, Zungu confirmed the official unveiling that a top-four target in the 2020/21 DStv Premiership is being set as well as the hope of silverware as they look to end their trophy drought.
He went on to reiterate that their new arrivals were primary targets for the Usuthu coach Ayanda Dlamini as he secured and “poached” players away from domestic rivals, with ‘Shabba’ their marquee arrival of the day.
Amazulu fans were excited with the signing of Tshabalala, saying it will cement the squad and look more threatening to other clubs. Nkanyiso Xulu, a die hard fan of Amazulu said he is happy with the signing of the Chiefs legend.
“I am happy with the signing of Tshabalala, with so much experience and creativity. I am sure he will add so much to the club and maybe bring us closer to a silverware”, said Xulu.
It is believed that the club will continue making announcements of signings as there are many players the club is targeting.
