The German soccer club celebrated their sixth win of the European Champions League, on Sunday after conquering Paris Saint-Germain (PSG)
Bayern was given the title of champions of European after Kingsley Coman’s only goal was enough to secure the club a perfect run in the tournament.
The win over PSG put Bayern toe to toe with Liverpool, the previous champions, in third place of the overall trophy winner’s standings which is led by Real Madrid with 13 trophies and AC Milan at second place with 7.
No team in the history of the UCL has ever accomplished what the German club has achieved, never dropping a single point in the tournament results in eleven straight wins.
The coach, Hans Flick’s side set a new record of being the undisputed champions. After the match Hans Flick was very proud of his team.
“I really think we deserve it tonight based on what the team produced over the last few months,” he said. He added that he is also very proud of his whole staff.
Bayern achieved another record last night, recording the second highest tally of goals in the UCL, at 43, only topped by Barcelona at 45.
Hans Dieter Flick joined top league of oldest coaches to have won the trophy, at 4th place, at the age of 55 After Alex Ferguson who won it at 57 and 66, Josef Heyrecks was 68 and Raymond Goethals was 71.
He has been leading the club only for 10 months, in which his side played 36 matches. Winning 33 and scoring 116 goals in this short period.
Sunday’s victory completed Bayern’s treble this season, winning their German Bundesliga league, the German domestic cup and now the European Champions League.
