Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana’s towering central defender, Morgan Gould, says he thrives under the physical aspect of the beautiful game and that the Central African Republic will witness his full strength when the two teams lock horns on Saturday, in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying match at the Cape Town Stadium.
Gould, who missed the 2013 Orange Africa Cup of Nations due to injury, said he is happy to be back in the national team and if selected to play on Saturday, he will show the visitors that he can give as much as he gets.
“It is a very good feeling just being called up to the national team,” said Gould. “Firstly for me, it is good to be playing football again after coming back from my career-threatening injury. Playing in the match on Saturday will be a bonus. It really feels very good to be back and I am looking forward to the game.”
“Most teams when they come to play South Africa believe we are very soft, but I thrive on the physical aspect, that is my game. I think the guys will need to enjoy the physical battle and try to run around them.”
“We have to show them what we can do. I am definitely going to enjoy the match and the task assigned to me. I believe we have the squad that can overcome such challenges. It is a huge test but very feasible,” added the former Bafana skipper.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 20h15.
