Who will win the top prize?
The last 5 group stage is now complete and the top 2 teams can now taste that R7 000, but the real questions is, ‘Who will have it?’
Although very dominant in both the top 20 and top 10 knockout stages, Persada 1 did not win a single match in the top 5 group stage. Nhlanhla Mbili, Persada 1 coach, said the boys were ahead of themselves and thought they had already won. However, that was not their reality and they disappointed supporters.
“Even Barcelona will disappoint you in the end, sometimes,” said Mbili.
After losing 2-1 to DUT Staff, Sterling House 2 coach, Mncedisi Ndlovu, said the referee did not do a good job.
“Don’t get me wrong DUT Staff is good, but the referee still didn’t do a good job,” Ndlovu reiterated.
Samkelo Ntanzi, Renaissance coach, is very confident that they will win the finals against DUT Staff. Renaissance won two matches and drew another two in the last 5 group stage and one of those draws was against DUT Staff.
“If you look closely at that match against DUT Staff, we were defensive. If we can attack, I have no doubt we will defeat them,” exclaimed Ntanzi.
Hlelo Properties 1 goalkeeper, Sabelo Ngubane, said one of the reasons they will not make the finals is because some of their players were writing exams and therefore could not participate in today’s matches.
“What’s most disappointing is that we scored first against Renaissance but still lost the match,” added Ngubane.
