Bidvest Wits booked their ticket to the MTN 8 Semi-finals by a stylish 3-0 riot over Bloemfontein Celtics at the Bidvest Stadium on Friday.
The students were the better team of the night as they showed more hunger than Siwelele. In the 21st minute of the game, Sibusiso Vilakazi recorded the first goal for the students. Two minutes later, the slopes were made even steeper for Celtics when Getaneh Kebede slotted home the second goal from a well team play.
However, Celtics was never ready to throw the towel. They kept pushing until newly signed midfielder Musa Nyatama missed a clear cut opportunity, when Wits defence was off-guard but only to shoot it a bit wide.
The second half was action packed as drama began. Celtics looked a rejuvenated side as they continued with their mission which saw Vuyani Ntanga finding almost a goal. Keamogetse Wolff received a yellow card as Celtics was on a mission to level the score. Minutes later Wolff received his second yellow of the game and was shown the back door.
Celtics were at an advantage to equalise but it was never their moment.
The game continued with Celtics pressurising as the students were 10 men down for the better part of the second half. Two minutes towards the end of the game, Celtics were caught by surprise. Calvin Kadi played a counter attack to Papy Faty who sealed the deal for Wits 3-0 and sent them to the Semis.
