TAXI STRIKE: STREET LAWS AND TICKECTS MUST BE WRITTEN IN ISIZULU
By: Zinhle Mngadi
The South African Taxi Association and the taxi drivers organisations called Qina Mshayeli marched to the City Hall to hand over a memorandum to the municipality officials. They were demanding that all tickets and warrants should be written in isiZulu as well as street laws because they are uneducated and cannot read them if written in English. They also want metro police to ‘stop harassing’ the drivers. The strikers chased the metro police away and threatened to kill them if they continued to escort the protest.
