Barcelona Striker, Cesc Fabregas, is set to stay at the club following rumours that Manchester United and his former club Arsenal might be interested in signing him back to England.
Fabregas (26) has clearly stressed out that he sees his future at Barca and confirmed this in an interview with Marca.com on Thursday.
He said, “I’ve always said that I’m happy at Barca. Whoever says that I’m leaving doesn’t know me and has never spoken with me nor with my agent because he knows that I don’t want him to talk with other people about me.”
“I’m very private and I don’t even talk about these things with my family. If someone says anything that isn’t that I want to play at Barca, it’s completely absurd.”
The Spanish international left Arsenal in the 2011/12 season to rejoin the Catalan in 2011. He made 303 appearances for the Gunners scoring 57 goals and became the club’s youngest player when he lined up against Rotherham United aged 16 years and 177 days in a League Cup match in October 2003.
According to Barcelona’s website, Fabregas has started 30 games of Barca’s league games but was substituted on 16 occasions for last season. In the Champions League, he was in the starting line-up just six times and was substituted three times.
AC Milan’s midfielder Mathieu Flamini told the Barca’s website, “I think his position at Barca allows him to express himself better and be more free.” This follows after Flamini was impressed with Fabregas’s role at the Catalan’s playing alongside Xavi and Iniesta because he felt that Arsenal mis-used Fabregas’s skills and he couldn’t perform how he should be with the position he playing there.
