The Moses Mabhida Stadium will host the 2013 Nedbank Cup final taking place on the 25 May, the PSL has confirmed. Supersport United, who are defending champions, will lock horns with PSL log leaders Kaizer Chiefs.
United booked their place in the final by defeating Platinum Stars 3-2, while Amakhosi advanced to the final following their 2-1 victory against National First Division side, United FC last weekend.
PSL Acting CEO, Cambridge Mokonyane, said when deliberating on the venue for the final with sponsors, Nedbank and the clubs involved, that a number of venues were tabled and considered and Durban was the best choice.
“Durban was a natural choice for us because of the support we have received at the stadium. Durban fans have been good to us in the past,” he said.
Andy Scott, Head of Group Sponsorships at Nedbank said that since its (Nedbank Cup) inception in 2008, the cup final has been a spectacular occasion and signaled the final curtain call for the PSL season. The final has thus far been played in five different stadiums. The PSL also confirmed that tickets for the final will be on sale in the next few days.
Mokanyane implored fans to purchase tickets early.
“We expect to see a packed Moses Mabhida Stadium, so fans must buy tickets early. This promises to be yet another thrilling final,” concluded Makonyane.
