TWO RHINOS LAY DEAD
By: Khethukuthula Lembethe
Poachers are now targeting private reserves as two rhinos were killed at Tala Game reserve near Pietermaritzburg.
The third rhino escaped with serious injuries and had to be de-horned.
The Hawks are on the search for the poachers.
Just six weeks into this year, at least 54 rhinos had been slaughtered for their horns.
It is expected that by the end of the year at least 450 rhinos will have been killed by criminal syndicates, if the killing continues at this rate.
So far 41 rhino have been poached in the KwaZulu-Natal province this year.
The game reserve has left all investigation to the Hawks.
No arrests have been made.
