13-year-old’s love for food turns into a business
The 13-year-old entrepreneur, Hannah turned her love for food into a baking business ‘Honey&Spice’.
Honey&Spice is made local and with love, offering poppy seed and lemon loaves and a homemade Chai spice which is a blend of aromatic spices, creating the perfect tea mixture to keep you warm this season.
Hannah has a blog where she writes about her favourite food. “What made me start my business was my love for food and visiting different place where I get to taste different kinds of food. I have always wanted to start my own business, I started looking at what is not being sold and it was poppy seed and lemon loaves and Chai spice. My family also encouraged me to start and not delay it,” she said.
Hannah is currently in the Middle East and she says her family has been helping her a lot with funding. “My dad and sister help with marketing the business on social media and taking orders while I am away,’’ Hannah added.
Covid- 19 has come with so many unfortunate circumstances however, Honey&Spice is keeping its clients safe.
“When we make the food, we make sure that we keep our hands clean, by sanitizing, and cleaning the surface areas. We also wear gloves and a mask when we go drop off deliveries, sanitize before and after the delivery,’’ she stated.
Hannah’s advice for people who want to start a business is to plan it properly, and work hard towards it. The teenager said having a good system makes the process a lot easier.
