Zondo Commission to lay criminal charges against Zuma for walking out
Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo has requested the secretary of the Commission to lay a criminal complaint against former President Jacob Zuma for walking out.
DCJ Zondo has decided that the secretary of the State Capture Commission should lay a “criminal complaint” with the SAPS against former president Zuma for breaking the law. Given that it all played out on national TV, not much investigating is needed before the NPA then handles this.
The DCJ has pointed out that the law is binding, and it wasn’t up to Zuma to “excuse himself” last week. Anyone who is summoned to attend has a duty to do so.
The commission will furthermore, on an urgent basis, serve Zuma with new dates for when he must appear AND get a constitutional court directive compelling him to comply including a stipulation that he may not (again) unilaterally “excuse himself”.
