The City of Durban awaits to host the Intra-African Trade Fair event which will run from from 15 to 21 November 2021.
The Intra-African Trade Fair event is a workshop that provides a platform for entrepreneurs from all over the African continent showcase their work. In addition, it also allows entrepreneurs to seek investments and market information that enables buyers and sellers of various African countries to meet in one space to negotiate their business ideals.
The event is organised by Afreximbank (the African Export-Import Bank) in collaboration with the African Union (AU), the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), and the South African Government.
The Head of Department (HOD), in Economic Development for Tourism and Environmental Affairs in KwaZulu-Natal, Nhlakanipho Nkontwana, said he wants to urge all local businesses to come and participate. “We learned a lot from the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Which is why we’re appealing to the entrepreneurs who want to participate; they must come and purchase exhibition stands to make ensure that as local entrepreneurs , they’re are participating. We’ll also buy other exhibition stands for the people of KZN to make sure that, especially the youth women, do get involved. To participate in this event is free, but if you want to exhibit, you must buy a stand.”
Nkontwana has indicated that the Durban Intra-African Trade Fair Event marks the second edition ever to be hosted on African soil, after the first one, hosted in Cairo, Egypt, from 2018.
