Ramaphosa applauds the Youth for creating job opportunities
President Cyril Ramaphosa has applauded the youth that saw the lockdown as an opportunity to create employment.
The Lockdown has affected everyone, especially those who worked for companies that had to retrench their staff to save businesses. Ramaphosa said he is very pleased by the youth that is using this time to uplift themselves.
“Corona virus came with a dark cloud, the unemployment rate is increasing rapidly, and poverty is also affecting multiple households. I am very glad that there are businessmen and women who are coming forward with new plans to help the society,” said Ramaphosa.
He further stated that Covid-19 is not only affecting South Africa but almost every country in the world and that is why the government has come up with a strategy to assist citizens with R500 billion.
A young fast food owner, Njabulo Mbatha, said his business is doing well because most people come back from work too tired to cook, so they go and buy from him.
“I recently graduated at University of Zululand, I never thought that I will graduate and sit at home doing nothing. Seeing young people using this opportunity to create jobs that will help them sustain their lives, motivated me into opening Busy Corner. The business is still new, but I am glad that it has reached many people,” he added.
