“STAGNATION CANNOT BE THE MEASURE OF YOUR EXCELLENCE”

The Premier of Kwa-Zulu Natal, Dr Zweli Mkhize honoured excellence in service when he presented the best performing departments with the service Excellence Awards.
On Tuesday at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli ICC, the premier rewarded departments and individuals who have performed exceptionally well in proving public services to the people of Kwa-Zulu Natal in their various districts.
“Service delivery is about the goodness of our heart and humanity”, said Mkhize.
He further on urged the people to draw from the life of former President Dr Nelson Mandela as he resembles the Batho Phele (people first) moto of this country.
The Director General of the province, Mr NVE Ngidi said that, “we have an army of staff members who seek to work well.”
He further said that, you need to motivate the government to do well and we need to acknowledge them.
“We need to ask ourselves how many people have graduated from poverty through our interceptions”, said Ngidi.
Ngidi further said ,“ Stagnation cannot be the measure of your excellence.”
The department of Human Settlements and the department of Health became the runners up gold medallists. Ms Phelile Zulu received the big award at the end of the day for the Department of Public Works in the Makhanyakuda District office.
Ethekweni Municipality Parks & Recreation, Department of KZN Treasury Internal Audit in Pietermaritzburg and the Department of Education won the silver medals.
And lastly the bronze was taken by the department of Transport, Arts & Culture , Department of Agriculture and Social Development in the Kwa-maphumulo office, Sports & Recreation Amajuba District Office.
