Suncoast Beach deaths confirmed as murder-suicide
What was believed to be a double murder of a male and female at the Suncoast beach in Durban now seems to be a murder-suicide.
KZN police spokesperson Brigadier Jay Naicker confirmed that the Suncoast beach murders last week where Fathima Muhammed (50) and Kresen Chandiah (24), were found dead, was a murder-suicide.
“One case of murder and one inquest docket is now being investigated,” said Naicker.
“This is as a result of evidence gathered during the course of the investigation as well as the postmortem conducted last week,” he said.
Both victims are from Montford in Chatsworth and they were alleged to be in a romantic relationship.
The two were found dead with multiple stab wounds on the sand dunes near the Suncoast beach on Monday 18th of November.
According to reports, one of the bodies still had a knife lodged in the chest area when police arrived on the scene. It is alleged that the bodies were discovered by a bystander who then immediately notified the police.
This is a developing story.
