Taxi involved in head on collision, CORNUBIA
Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to a scene of a reported motor vehicle collision on the
M41 westbound just after N2 in Cornubia, Tuesday morning.
The crash involved a Toyota Quantum which was found to have occupied the roadway and
the injured commuters were to safety. At the time of publishing, 13 commuters had sustained injuries ranging from moderate to fatal.
The injured commuters were stabilized on the scene and were taken by various ambulances to the nearby hospitals for further treatment.
The cause of the collision is currently unknown. The South African Police Services have opened an investigation.
The accident comes after Weather South Africa issued warnings to both road users and pedestrians to be vigilant as parts of the KwaZulu-Natal, Durban and extreme Eastern parts of the Eastern Cape were expected to experience poor weather conditions, such as heavy, destructive rains, with areas around the Drakensberg to expect snowfall which can be icy, slippery and difficult for drivers to maintain.
