The Christian of South Africa Organisation wants Timothy Omotoso set free
The Christian of South Africa organisation demands Reverend Timothy Omotoso’s charges to be dropped.
The Nigerian pastor who is facing 97 charges which includes human trafficking, racketeering, contravention of the sexual offences act and pace, has been awaiting trial for three years.
Members of the organisation plan to march to the National Prosecuting Authority, demanding for all charges against him to be dropped.
Omotoso and his co-accused who both pleads not guilty, were set to appear in the Port Elizabeth high Court in April but was postponed due to the national lockdown.
People on social media are up in arms following the report.
@comfort_lungelo How can people call for the rapist to be released just because he’s their pastor doesn’t mean that he didn’t do this…what if it their biological daughter who was raped was these people going to protest for omotoso’s release…how can GBV end when we still got people who support
@DadiJos This business of giving any organisation that wants to make a name for itself publicity and air time is just nonsense. What is “The Christians of South Africa organisation”? Has its bona fides etc, been established? When/where was it established? Who does it represent?
@Vickyvictory1st The case has been postponed many times and judges and prosecutors are recusing themselves. This case has been comprised due to sum justice officials in PE. These Christians are supporting him because there is no way you can be in prison for 3 years without a way forward.
