Third police officer arrested for Nathaniel Julius murder
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) has confirmed an arrest of the third suspect linked to the murder of Nathaniel Julius.
The teenager, who was living with Down syndrome, was shot dead last week in Johannesburg, Eldorado Park.
Ipid spokesperson, Ndileka Cola, said they will oppose bail for all the suspects linked to the murder of Nathaniel.
“We want to make sure that justice is served, so we are going to protect our evidence as we are safeguarding it at very much. We just want to ensure that this is the step and we want the police that are implicated for doing this to face full might of the law,” she said.
Cola also urged that people be patient with Ipid, as they are working hard to solve the matter.
“Ipid is prioritising this matter and once it moves through to the NTA, we are hoping that it’s going to get the same agency and the alleged suspects can be prosecuted,” Cola said.
Two other police officers, in connection with the shooting, are currently in custody.
