Tributes pour in as Emzini Wezinsizwa creator dies
Fans express grief over the passing of Pixley Shabangu
The founder of a well-known Television programme Emzini Wezinsizwa Pixleyly Shabangu, passed on this weekend at Charlotte Maxeke Hospital. His death comes after a long illness with Diabetes. Shabangu died at the age of 69, and his son, Nkululeko Shabangu confirmed his death.
Emzini Wezinsizwa was a very popular Television programme. Most people loved the show because of its humour. Besides the funny content, the show used to teach people about social issues.
Metro Sithole, a fan, said they grew up watching the show on TV.
“We used to gather in our house as kids just to watch the show,” he said.
He also added that what he loved more about Umuzi Wezinsizwa is that the content never offended anyone.
“Even today’s kids can still watch the programme. In fact, they still do because SABC 1 used to have repeats of Umuzi Wezinsizwa,” said Sithole.
Sithole said they will forever be grateful to Shabangu for giving people such good content. He wishes for his soul to rest in peace and that his family heals from their loss.
Shabangu left behind his two sons and two daughters. He will be buried on Friday, however, that will still be confirmed, and more details will be announced.
