WoW! Career expo to prepare students for industry
Students from the Durban University of Technology are expected to gain more insight on career opportunities, job placements, bursaries and internships from the World of Work (WoW) career exhibition.
The two-day career expo will take place from the 14th– 15th of August at Ritson Campus. The Department of Co-Operative Education will host the annual event where over 350 industry representatives from more than 150 companies and organisations are expected to engage with students.
Suhan Rambharasa, from the department said that she is excited about the success and growth of the exhibition from the previous years.
“This exhibition is where companies will come and exhibit to DUT students about career opportunities that they may have. We hope our DUT students get employed in the industry, get in-service and internships as well,” she said.
Rambharasa further said that the aim of the department is to get all ‘DUT students out in the industry after graduation’ and give students an idea of what the industry expects from prospective employees.
Ahead of the WoW exhibition, representatives from WoW visited DUT campuses giving out information about the upcoming exhibition.
Amanda Ngwenya, Brand Ambassador for the programme encouraged students to get themselves involved in such initiatives as its beneficial to them and their future.
“If you are really serious and want to get employed you should attend WoW and I advise students to bring their CV’s as there will be potential employers on the day,” she said.
