Mangaliso Ngema fired from Lithapo over sexual harassment claims
Actor and tv star Mangaliso Ngema, has been fired from the SABC 2’s telenovela Lithapo, following the accusations of sexual misconduct.
This follows after a number of actresses had a silent protest on social media a few days ago, where they posted a picture of Ngema without a caption. Ngema supposedly harasses his fellow female cast members on set.
Actress Lorraine Moropa released a statement on Instagram, speaking out on her experience of sexual harassment from the actor.
“On 20 July 2020, I experienced an incident of sexual harassment on set during filming of Lithapo. This was the second incident caused by the same man whom I had reported earlier this year,” read the statement.
Ngema released a statement on his Facebook page, saying that he does not deny the allegations against him.
“I am not going to deny allegations against my name, I will take full responsibility for the harassment case. I apologize to Miss Lorraine Moropa and others for the abuse I directed towards them,” read the statement.
Quizzical Productions, the production company behind the telenovela, has allegedly terminated the star’s contract.
