Thuso Mbedu scores herself an award
South African actress, Nokwanda Thuso Mbedu, has been flying the South African flag up high in the United States of America, recently scored herself a TV Star Breakout Award for the role of Cora in the series, Underground Railroad. The awards for the film actors and all film genres were hosted by the Hollywood Critics Association in Los Angeles . In an interview Thuso had with Oprah Winfrey, she stated that the role of Cora was personal to her, which is one of the reasons she mastered it although she said it had not been easy due to the challenges she had to go through, especially since it reminded her of her past. Thuso took to social media to announce and thank the Hollywood Critics Association for the special recognition and thanked the people of South Africa for the amazing support they had shown her.
“Thank you very much to Hollywood Critics Association for this special recognition. The Underground Railroad has been an amazing journey from the start to the end. I could not have asked for better introduction to storytelling on this side of the world. I am truly honored. Thank you to every single person who has walked this journey with me,” she said.
