By: Nosipho Ntombela
Petite in statue, one would swear he is at least a dozen in age. But as the saying goes dynamite comes in small packages, so it is with Sizwe Ndima, a young man from the township who has made success his middle name.
Coming towards him on the day of our interview, he has nothing but his laptop in hand, and editing his work, always busy.
Born and bred in Richards Bay, this 22 year old is a 3rd year Video Technology student at the Durban University of Technology.
His thick portfolio is very impressive his talent extra ordinary. He is making a name out there through his hard work. And his dedication evident through the quality of work he produces.
For the past 3 years Ndima has been spreading his wings under Gear House Company PTY LTD one of South Africa’s leading technical suppliers for upmarket live events well known for hosting successful events.
This has proved to be fruitful as he was among those chosen to videorise the late Tata Mandela’s memorial service. He has been involved in many projects and events such as the Metro FM Awards, MAMAs, Top gear, BRICS Summit, Africa Renaissance and under SABC 3 Top Billing in Durban July to name a few.
Ndima describes himself as a humble young man. “I believe being humble is the key to respect and respect the key to open any door you want to enter in” said Ndima who also wears the cap of Director of Photography in the South African Movie Cobra and the forbidden.
He regards every job he has done as his best achievement giving God all the credit.
The world says behind every successful man there is a woman, but for him behind all his success is God. “I am a born again Christian, I love and believe in God, I know every good thing I have is from him and him alone.”
Corne Vallun, from the AJ Company specializing in outsourcing high tech equipment made it possible for Ndima to be part of the 2014 Vodacom Durban July. He was given an opportunity to work as camera operator for the upmarket lifestyle programme Top Billing on SABC 3.
On Ndima she said “Sizwe is a very amazing young man, he respects his job. He is very friendly and a nice guy to work with. We were satisfied with his work there is no doubt we will work with him again.”
For Ndima, the sky is the limit and his work will take him places.
