DUT ALUMNI TO APPEAR ON GENERATIONS: THE LEGACY
Durban University of Technology alumni, Thandeka Shangase will be making her guest appearance on South Africa’s popular telenovela, Generations: The Legacy on the second week of September.
Shangase who hails from Umlazi Township in Durban did not take the news lightly as she was told she would only appear on two episodes, however she believes that appearing on generations will open more opportunities for her.
“I thought to myself this was the biggest role I have had to play. Every time I get a call from my agent, this is how I accept the news. Every role is big. You never know if your next big contract is watching,” she said.
The actress explained that if her character’s popularity gained momentum, she would be afforded the opportunity of an ongoing screen time. Shangase mentioned that applying to DUT was one of the best decisions she had ever made as she realised that acting wasn’t just a career to her but also a calling. Thandeka has appeared on an ABSA Insurance advert, and has been featured on various other projects from radio drama, educational theatre and adverts.
“Creating trust with my agent became very important to me because I knew that if I showed them how I wanted it, then the sky would be the limit, “ she added.
Thandeka advised students to never stop dreaming because everything that is meant for them will wind them.
