NEW KID ON THE BLOCK AIMS FOR THE STARS

South African hip-hop has received high recognition around the globe and this has pushed youngsters to get into the industry and chase their dreams without hesitation.
Ngiphiwe Gule, (23), better known as Telephunk is Pietermaritzburg (PMB) born artist that has hustled his way into the hip-hop game.
This young artist from Edendale in PMB says he aspires to be like DJ Sbu and Jay Z, he believes that with determination anything is possible.
Gule said he realised that he is musically talented at the age of nine after he freestyled his first song and from then he fell in love with music, and not a day goes by without him listening to music or perhaps watching any music channel.
He also added that music is something that runs in the family and this has made his parents support him in everything he does.
“My brother has started recording and also telling me how he wants to be like me when he grows up,” Gule said.
His mother said he has accepted that his son likes music and he is going places with his dreams of being an international artist one day.
“I would catch him busy recording his first mixtape which was titled “The TeleTape” in his room and ask him what is he doing, and he would just play me his songs from that point I
decided not to stand in his way,” she said.
The young go-getter says his favourite artist of all time is the American rapper, Kanye West because he knows what he is doing and he is always trying something new.
“He is not an artist, but a fashion designer, record producer, a business man and a family man and that’s why I look up to him,” Gule added.
In some of his songs, Gule has worked with Tweezy a well-known producer for producing some of the most famous hits like AKA’s Sim dope, All eyes on me and Run Jozi. The vibrant
“Telephunk” has also worked with Pilot Films which is a very big television production company on his recent hit titled “Superstar”.
Gule has recorded a number of hit singles including Izolo Lokhu and UgandaGanda and he says he is still continuing to make his family proud by making his dreams come true through
