Striking Mayville vendor expands business
The Mayville fruit vendor who set social media platforms alight in 2020, for his striking looks and business of selling fruits and vegetables on the streets of Mayville has expended his business and purchased a container to trade from.
Street Vendor, Siphesihle Tshibi, the owner of Fruitstop and Veggies which was established in 2020 during
the Covid-19 pandemic, purchased a new container in the beginning of August and has moved from selling off the side of the road to trading from the new container, which is a much more secure setting. Tshibi grew in popularity due to his looks, which appealed to his female customers.
Tshibi, quit his job to open a fruit and veg stall and his business has been booming since. Tshibi said that in order for him to be able to purchase a container for his business, he had to get sponsors and they came through for him. He thanked the eThekwini Municipality, Job Funds, Small Business development (SMD), Informal Economy Support programme (IESP),and Project Preparation Trust (PPT).
“Allow me to take this opportunity and show greatest appreciation of support from these organisations. As a small business from the streets to where we are at and where we are headed, for me this is my dream turning into reality. To the official sponsors of Fruitstop & Veggies, we highly appreciate the ongoing support and assistance you have given us and we hope this will continue until our Fruits and Veggies Market is officially opened,” he said.
Tshibi posted on his Facebook timeline; “Your dreams are your dreams, your goals are your goals! Nothing happens!
