The ANC Youth League has introduced Snap Back Caps and Swag to get the youth of this country to vote whilst also trying to be relevant towards their target audience.
President Jacob Zuma also danced along to tunes performed by top DJ’s. These DJ’s include Sox, DJ Merlon, DJ Siyanda and musicians like Lvovo Derango and Zakes Bantweni who have recently been performing at major ANC and Youth League events as they entertained scores of people.
The event took place on Wednesday (9th April) evening at the Playhouse and the venue was packed to capacity whilst others were left standing outside the Theatre House watching the event on screens.
Zakes Bantwini dazzled the young politicians and supporters with his tunes and dancing tricks as the audience screamed for him. Bantwini performed his latest hits and got the audience and the President to sing along with him.
The Youth League has been holding a number of these entertainment based ‘campaigning events’ in the past two months.
“Our artists are not paid to come and perform at ANC and Youth League events , they are members of the League and mother body and are volunteering just like us,” said Thanduxolo Sabela, the Regional Secretary in eThekwini.
Zuma was also wearing clothing of the youth such as Snap Back Caps bearing ANC and Youth League logos.
Designer T-shirts were also there written ‘Another 1 from eThekwini Region’ with others bearing the face of Zuma.
Revolutionary Berets are not the only gear that’s trending, but also these Snap Back Caps worn by scores of young people in Durban and Kwa-Zulu Natal at large.
Slogans such as ‘Forward with Swag Forward’ were echoed at the Theatre Centre
