Young woman motivates people to maintain a healthy lifestyle
Since the beginning of the lockdown, many people have neglected their physical and mental health.
The lockdown regulations denied people the permission to go exercise in places like gym facilities as they have been closed ever since. With the stress of job loss and financial strains, many fell off their healthy lifestyles and adopted unhealthy habits.
Nomfundo Nxumalo, a young lady from Kwamashu is an exception to this issue. With many stresses and regulations, Nomfundo said she uses exercise as a form of escape and get some of her frustrations out.
“I know that if I exercise I always feel better, even with eating healthy, I know that if I eat really bad food I will feel bad,” said Nomfundo.
With the flu season amongst us, chances of getting sick are even higher than usual. Nomfundo said that is why it is important to make sure that we stay healthy by eating a well-balanced diet which includes lots of fruits and vegetables.
She also mentioned the importance of doing mental exercises such as Yoga which is a form of meditation.
“Yoga helps us focus on the present because we always think about the past or the future which is how we get anxiety and depression, whereas there is so much beauty in the present but we never grasp it because we’re so focused on everything else,” she said.
Nomfundo said she knows how difficult it is to stay positive in these difficult circumstances but she encourages everyone to stay positive and healthy.
“The more you focus on how bad things are, the worse they become.” She added.
