AMAZULU RETAINS THEIR ENGEN UNDER17 TITLE

AmaZulu fc successfully retained their Engen Under17 Knockout Challenge title after they narrowly beat Lamontville Golden Arrow 2-1 on Sunday at Moses Mabhida
AmaZulu started on a high as they broke the deadlock with a goal from Luthando Qwabe. Arrows equalised just before halftime courtesy of Lwandile Gwala to take
the match to halftime in a tie. Usuthu juniors took the lead again through Luthando Qwabe in the second stanza from the penalty spot.
Qwabe’s goal made sure that the Durban based-side would represent KwaZulu-Natal in the Champions of Champions in Johannesburg. AmaZulu will battle it out with the other eight teams from nine regions for the ultimate national prize. The three-day tournament serves as a platform for youngsters to showcase their talent.
Usuthu had an advantage as the hosts and it was beneficial to them in clinching the title for the second time in a row. The club’s coach, Lindokuhle Mkhize revealed his
approach after the tournament.

This year’s showpiece proved to be a success and the youngsters are deemed to be future stars of the game. The trophy was accompanied by R15 000 in cash prizes.
