Boks bag spot in World Cup final
The Springboks defeated Wales 19-16 and bagged themselves a spot in the 2019 Rugby World Cup final in Yakohama International Stadium on Sunday.
Wales have not defeated South Africa in a Rugby World Cup, that gave the Springboks an upper hand
Both teams failed to score a try in the first-half, the game went to half-time with the Springboks leading 6-9 through penalties.
Springboks finally got their first try of the match through Damian de Allande’s beautiful play in the 60th minute, they regained their lead 16-9. 10 minutes later , Wales responded with a hard fought try with Josh Adams scoring it in the 70th minute making the score 16-16. With six minutes remaining South Africa won another penalty and Handre Pollard slotted it home to make it 19-16.With 4 minutes to go, Springboks made sure they gain position to beat the clock and they held to their 19-16 lead until the final whistle.
This is South Africa’s third World Cup final, and this win sees the Springboks set up a repeat of the 2007 final against England.
The final will take place on Saturday, 02 November at 11:00.
