Kaizer Chiefs seized a goalless draw against Marumo Gallants
Kaizer Chiefs missed two points after playing a goalless draw against Marumo Gallants in the DSTV Premiership match that took place at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The injuries suffered by both Samir Nurkovic and Phathutshedzo Nange compelled the Kaizer Chiefs coach, Stuart Baxter, to amend his formation of a 4-2-3-1 attack. In the starting lineup, Baxter introduced Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Lebogang Manyama, and Reeve Frosler to beef up his 4-3-3 attack that put Nkosingiphile Ngcobo as a false number nine.
Baxter commended the ‘Glamour boys’, saying they were becoming better in ball possession.
” Tonight in the second half, I think we made a little progress. We were a bit more solid at the back, apart from that couple of set pieces where Daniel Akpey rescued us. I think we played more like we should play if we want to start winning games. The longer a game went on, our possession got sharper, and our backline was high and braver, we got balls into their box, so yeah, we were threatening,” Baxter said.
Kaizer Chiefs supporters were disappointed with the clubs performance.

Marumo Gallants coach, Sebastien Migne, said he was not too worried about his team going forward to the next fixtures.
“We don’t have a star in our team. Every player needs to be concerned, and we need to perform well in our attack and defence. We had the opportunities today, and to progress further we need to continue to build our team spirit,” stated Migne .
In the upcoming DSTV Premiership fixtures, Kaizer Chiefs will face AmaZulu on Saturday, 02 October 2021.
While on the other side, Marumo Gallants are set to face Golden Arrows in the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Sunday, 03 October 2021.
