Lorch and Shonga to face the music
Orland Pirates pair Thembinkosi Lorch and Justin Shonga will have to undergo a disciplinary hearing following a breach of team protocols.
With the resumption of ABSA Premiership action last week, all teams were due to check themselves into the league’s ‘Bio Bubble’ as a precautionary measure to curb the spread of COVID-19 while finishing the remaining games of the season.
The two Buccaneer’s stars were adjudged to have not followed team protocols and therefore have been axed from the squad upon appearing before a hearing.
The club released a statement explaining the situation at the Dobsonville based club and how the image of the brand remains an important element.
”All players have been educated and are constantly reminded of their responsibilities as public servants and role models. It is our role and duty to ensure that all members of this organization are fully compliant and aware of the measures that are in place. Both players will be afforded the opportunity to return to play once the disciplinary processes have been finalised,” reads statement.
The two attackers are to undergo two COVID-19 tests, which both must be negative, as per the BSE protocols, before they resume any club activities.
