Orlando Pirates Captain marked 400 appearances in his team
Orlando Pirates captain and the defender Happy Jele marked four hundred appearances in his team this past weekend.
The 34-year-old Buccaneers defender is the first player in the team to achieve this victory. He made this history when Orlando Pirates was playing a Premier Soccer league (PSL) fixture against Moroka Swallows on Saturday the 11th of September 2021. He joined the club in 2006, has been in the club as a professional player for the past fifteen years.
In his interview with orlandopiratesfc.com Jele said he is honored and very grateful to the club.
“It is an honor for me to play for Orlando Pirates. A big club in the country, as well as the continent. To have been a part of the Club for 15 years is a big personal achievement, and I want to keep going and continue pushing,” Jele said.
Jele emphasizes the importance of being humble, dedicated and respect. He said as a player and captain he respects the club badge, the people around him, and respecting the fans. He also mentioned that working hard at training and on the field of play as well as doing a bit extra even when no one is watching, the results will always show up on the field.
Jele has been the captain of the club since 2017. Orlando Pirates recently renewed Jele’s contract, which will keep him in the club until June 2022 with the club having an option to extend to 2023.
