WE TRULY WANT TO SUPPORT SUNDOWNS IN THEIR QUEST FOR AFRICAN GLORY – SUPERSPORT FC

SuperSport United FC confirmed that it has applied to the Premier League for a venue change in their home fixture against Free State Stars on the 24th of September.
This application was made to assist Pretoria neighbours Mamelodi Sundowns, who found themselves without a booked stadium for their make -it-or-break-it CAF Champions League semi-final tie against Zesco United of Zambia.
SuperSport United CEO, Stan Matthews said that they were under no obligation to give away their booking of Lucas Moripe Stadium for their fixture to make way for the Sundowns game but felt it is the right thing to do for their cross field rivals.
“I can’t pretend that we are happy about the situation as it is disruptive to our coach’s plans, our players, our supporters, our sponsors and our budget. But sometimes you have to look at the bigger picture and we truly want to support Sundowns in their quest for African glory which will benefit the standing of the PSL as a whole and maybe mean additional qualifying spots down the line,” commented Matthews.
The new confirmed venue is the King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi Township.
Sundowns lost two goals to one against Zesco United last week Saturday at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium during their away first leg semi-final.
SuperSport United will be facing Maritzburg United on an away game tomorrow at the Harry Gwala Stadium, Pietermaritzburg, at 19h30.
