Ziqalele Primary School claimed a 2-0 victory over Ndongeni Primary School at the 2015 Top 32 Schools Tournament at Cator Manor Sports Grounds on Saturday.
Ziqalele, representing Zululand, scored two goals in the second half only minutes away from the referee blowing the final whistle.
Ndongeni Primary School’s coach, Ndaba Ngcobo was very disappointed in the way the team played.
“I really thought we were going to pull it through and make it at least to the semi-finals, “said Ngcobo
“But what was more frustrating was seeing the boys not doing their best today and because they perform their best during practice but today when it came to the field I did not see that at
Ziqalele coach, Bongani Fakude said that they came with a mind-set to win, with a defence that was strong and spirit of unity amongst the team at its peak.
“The boys played very well. Our next target are the semi-finals now and go all the way to claim the trophy,” said Fakude.
“I am very proud of them in every way and this is showing our hard work is finally paying off.
They must keep it up,” added Fakude.
The tournament is sponsored by the Department of Education and Sports &Recreation with more than 12 districts taking part.
